Rainy day...

It's been "one of those days". It's been a combination of things today, you know how it goes...Our weather has changed from cold and snowy to windy with constant rain. You'd think living here in the Seattle area, I would be used to this, but I don't think I am anymore! I say this because when my husband and I got married, he was attending grad school in Maryland, so we lived there for the first four years of our marriage. One thing I miss about it was the sun! The summers were really hot and humid, but the winters were so sunny, even though it was usually very cold! Now I don't miss the enormous bugs or the humidity, but oh, that sunshine! Our first winter back here, I couldn't figure out why I felt so well, "down"! But I really think now that I had acclimated to the way things were in Maryland and all this gray was really getting to me! The weird thing is, it's been a long time since we've moved back here, and I'm still dreaming of sunny places!

SO...it's rainy, and what's a girl to do? (Besides buy a raspberry hot chocolate from Starbucks!) One thing that always, and I mean always, brightens my day (and my outlook on life) is a really fun craft. I found a great tutorial to help me with something I have been trying to make. All I can say is, it is SO much easier when someone who knows what they're doing explains it, versus "going it alone". :) I also found an adorable little craft to do with the kiddos! (And I mean itty-bitty little!) I will be showing these two crafts to you in the next few days...

What do you do when the winter weather has you feeling gray? Aren't you glad it is getting closer to Friday? We are more than half way there! :)

Well, here in NC our winters aren't too bad. I mean sure, I have seen it in the single digit but that's always the low, never the high. We can pretty much still enjoy the outside. But on those days that I can't then I enjoy watching TV, reading, or playing the Wii. I have never been real crafty so I admire the people who are. I am looking forward to seeing what crafts you are working on.

I saw the sun yesterday for the first time in days here in TN so I totally understand.
I usually end up in the kitchen on days like that...making some soup or cookies or something. Having a fire in the fireplace is nice too!

Can't wait to see the craftiness!

I LOVE a nice warm drink, cook a yummy dinner, work on a pretty craft and of course have a pretty yummy smelling candle on.

I watched the news and they were showing your weather. Plus I have lived in Spokane before so I know what winter can be like.

I understand. This weather makes me grumpy, so I am definitely excited to see you tonight!! At least we are not stuck at home because of snow. I am looking forward to seeing your crafts!

Hi Jenni,
Well the sun was shining here South of Seattle for a bit but I really believe our house is in a "little" sunbelt of some type. I can call my brother in Issaquah and it's raining-And then call my husband at work in Seattle and it will be raining but many many times it's blue skies and sunshine here. In the spring, summer and fall I make sure to sit out on my porch and get at least 15 minutes of sunshine when it's out. In the winter I dream of white sandy beaches! :)
Hey to answer your question about the popcorn ceiling deal. We used a 6 inch scraper and got it all off. Cleaned it all up and painted the ceiling. On one room we scraped it all off then hired a guy to come and re spray it nice and fresh. A big mess but so nice when it's all done. I miss fixing up our last house-We got it just the way we wanted it then moved and bought a brand new home. I really enjoyed "fixing up" the old one.
Ever think about getting one of those sun lamps to put by your computer? I "heard" they work really good.
Can't wait to see what crafts you are up to!

I say make brownies! The smell alone is enough to lift anyone's mood! :)

I buy hyacinths at the local Kroger when they come into season. That smell cheers me out of my winter blues every time!
