"If I only had a brain!"
My children and I worked feverishly this afternoon to pull our little porch together. They love to help with any decorating I may be doing! :) And I am glad I had their help, because it was late in the afternoon before I started working on it! :) But I promised pictures of a completed porch on Friday or Saturday, and I could just see it being more like Monday or Tuesday if I didn't get going! :) And truly, decorating is such a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
After we'd finished and eaten dinner, it was still light enough to take pictures, and dark enough to show off the little Halloween lighting we'd put up. Just one little problem~ I didn't like the way the flash made it all look, and turned it off while I took my pictures. I am not so happy with the way they turned out, because the details aren't as clear as usual. It really was one of those moments where I truly did empathize with the dear old scarecrow in Wizard of Oz, though! (Hence, the title of this post!) I couldn't not show you at least a little of what we've done~ after all, I promised! However, please forgive me these pictures...you know, of course, that I am going to have to take them all over again tomorrow in the sunlight, and will show you more next time! For now, though, here's a peek...
I just knew this little scarecrow would feel much better about life when he had one of those dollar store crows with him!
But I didn't know just how much I like orange lights until today! From now on, these are going up every year!
My oldest daughter Rose helped me by giving every scarecrow a crow, just because!
The wreath is the same one I did in August, but I tucked in some more fall~ some orange feathers and another fall berries sprig.
My youngest daughter Gracie helped me plant some autumn flowers in the old Maytag.
And wanted to "plant" this Cosmos flower she'd picked, so she carefully poked this one into the washer, too! I just had to get a picture of it! :)
So hopefully you enjoyed these rather blurry pictures! :) I wasn't able to show it all to you yet, but I will! I don't know how you decorate, but here, it's a work in progress. I am never "done" with our porch because I love to keep adding and tweaking and fluffing! :)
I sure hope you all had a wonderful weekend! :)

Very cool....isn't it fun to have the kiddos help...they love it. Hunter put all our Depart. 56 halloween village out..he was so proud of it. I like your scarecrow. cherry
I LOVE your outdoor decorations...they look great! I need to get some orange lights, they look neat all around your decorations. LOVE the scarecrow!
Definitely a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon! It's so nice your chick-a-dee's like to help...and you let them! :) Sometimes I'm too OCD about things and shoo mine away. Thanks for the great reminder!
Mine too LOVE to decorate! Sometimes I have to go back and fix stuff once they have gone to bed, but it is sweet. I love those orange lights. And that Maytag...beautiful.
Very cute! The crow was the special added touch!
Happy Monday!

You did a wonderful job - and I love that your kids helped! The little flower tucked in reminded me of something my son would have done when he was little. I love seeing the world thru their eyes! Happy Monday :)
Everything looks great I wish my kids were still young enough to want to help.
So, so cute and fun for fall time! What a good family fun time to decorate together! B loves to help me, too, and I love that time together!!! Hoping Miss Priss will too, one day. Right now she likes to 'undecorate'! Happy Monday hun! Hugs, Les
Love you Fall decorations. I too decorated this past weekend but I keep finding things to add. Have a great day!
Sooooo cute!!! And you had some nice helpers, too :) I love those orange lights, too, we call them pumpkin lights in our house, lol.
