Thank you

Today is Veteran's Day, and I want to say thank you to everyone who has served or is serving in the United States military. I know it is because of you that we stay safe and free! I am so very thankful~ thankful for your courage and your sacrifice. I am thankful for your families as well, for they sacrifice with you.

My father served in the Air Force for twenty years, and then retired the year I was born. I didn't grow up as a military kid, but my three older siblings did. My dad served in the Vietnam War. I know his time in Vietnam was very difficult, and was also hard on my mother and sisters and brother to be apart from him. I know this required courage and sacrifice on their part and I am so thankful for it.

So, thank you Dad, for serving in the Air Force, so that we could continue to enjoy this precious freedom! And thank you once again to all of you who serve and have served. You are a living tribute to this beautiful country, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

What a wonderful story! My dad was active duty in the Navy for 22 years but I grew up a Navy brat!! You know what's really sad? I didn't talk to him today and thank him for his service! It's on my to-do list for first thing in the morning!

(My word verification word is "blitch"...hmm, that's awfully close to another word!)

What a sweet tribute to your father. :)

My dad also served 20 years and in Vietnam. He and my mom were separated a total of 7 out of the first 10 years of the marriage. I can't imagine that. Thank you for sharing this with us. :)
